Settling (Bunny Destruction)

Settling (Bunny Destruction), Toilet Paper, 2020

Settling (Bunny Destruction) was a performance piece in which I let my friend’s daughter play with one of my previous toilet paper pieces, Comfort (Bunny), and leave it out to be subject to the sprinkler. The rabbit is based on my childhood stuffed bunny. 

Over the course of the performance, the bunny breaks down from something good, soft and new, to something I discover is flawed and as a result, irreparably damaged. I gingerly piece it back together, trying to recreate its value with little avail. The performance ends with the little girl unceremoniously scooping up the bunny and carrying it inside.
